Profile of Driving Instructor David Gleeson
Driving Instructor training in the U.K.
I trained as a Driving Instructor with BSM (British School of Motoring)
which was the top training organisation
in the U.K. in 1987, under Bill Lavender.
I passed all of the DSA Drving Instructor exams in England, first time, in 1987 then
worked as an instructor
for BSM for 1 year before starting up Gleeson's Driving School in 1988.
Award Winning Driving Instructor
I won the London driving instructor of the year competition, and then came 3rd in the U.K. competition

Advanced Driving Tests
I passed both the ROSPA Gold Advanced driving test and also the IAM Advanced test.
Many instructors have not passed any advanced tests.
Gleeson's Driving School
From 1988 until 1999 I worked as an independent driving instructor in London very successfully
achieving
a very high pass rate with my learners.
Ireland
In 1999 I moved to Ireland and started up Gleesons Driving School, operating in Clonmel, Thurles and surroundind areas.
I passed the RSA driving instructor exams all first time, when they were introduced in 2008, achieving very high grades in each exam.
I have a very high pass rate here also, please read my feedback page which shows comments made by my former learners.
I Passed the Fetac Level 6 Trainer the Trainer course, gaining a Distinction.
This is the recommended qualification for delivering the EDT lessons, that were introduced in 2011.
If you are doing EDT lessons you should find a Train the Trainer qualified instructor to get the most out of your EDT lessons.

Over the years I have gained licences in many different types of vehicles.
Cars, Motorcycles, Car and Trailer, Buses, Trucks, Tractors, Fork lift trucks, Teleporters, and Airplanes !!!
It is a great asset to have a variety of experience, in different vehicles, giving
greater knowledge, skill, and insight into the behaviour of other road users.
It is essential that Driving Instructors have experience in excess of the subject taught.
